Welcome to the Reserve Mines Fire Department
established 1934

The Reserve Mines Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1934 to service the communities of Reserve and Gardiner Mines, located just east of Glace Bay. We are an incorporated body that operates with an elected Board of Directors, a Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, Assistant Deputy Chief, Secretary, and Treasurer. Our Fire Officers are appointed by the Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Chief.

Our current roster consists of 27 firefighters, 6 Life Members[Retired], and 6 auxiliary members. We respond to various types of emergencies, including Structure Fires, Motor Vehicle Accidents, Medical Emergencies, and Public Assistance as well as Mutual Aid assistance to the surrounding fire departments. Our hall also serves the community as a venue for various social activities such as wedding receptions, parties, and meetings.

Training sessions take place on Tuesday evenings, beginning at 7:00 p.m. New members are always welcome - feel free to drop by any Tuesday night for a visit.
